United States of America Legion of Merit Commander

The Legion of Merit is awarded to all U.S services and was established in 1942 retroactive to 8th September 1939.

The award criteria is for:
Exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the United states.

Commander grade is issued to foreign nationals the inscription on the reverse reads God has favoured our undertaking and the numerals are for 1782 the year that George Washington established the Badge of Military Merit, the purple red ribbon is called American Beauty Red.
A very nice looking award.
