United States of America Combat Infantryman Badge Third Award two Silver Stars
A Silver badge 3” wide consisting of an infantry musket on a light blue bar with a silver border and over an elliptical oak wreath with two Silver Stars.
The blue colour represents the infantry branch and the musket represents the first official U.S shoulder arm the 1795 model Springfield Arsenal musket the badge was adopted in 1924. The oak wreath symbolises steadfastness, strength and loyalty.
Awarded to personnel in the rank of colonel or below with an infantry military occupational speciality who have satisfactorily performed duty whilst assigned as a member of an infantry unit when engaged in active ground combat it was initially referred to as the Combat Assault Badge and was later changed to the Combat Infantryman Badge on 27th October 1942.
